Sit, Walk, Write: A Silent Retreat for Creatives

December 3 - 8, 2017

A practice in presence, a practice in meeting yourself, a practice in

cutting through resistance.

Creative people require dedicated time and space for nurturing themselves. We invite you to practice with us in the ancient Appalachian Mountains of North Georgia, supported by a kindred community, nourished by wholesome food. Lisa blends her passion for writing and stillness with lessons she learned as a student and assistant to writer, Natalie Goldberg.

“Underneath everything,” Goldberg writes in The True Secret of Writing, “we long to know ourselves.”

A little of what to expect on your 5 day silent retreat:

Sitting meditation: Using the breath as your focus. Don’t worry if you’ve never done it, we’ll show you         how. Beginners are welcome.

Walking meditation: Using movement as your focus.

Writing practice: Using notepad and pen as your focus. Experience keeping your hand moving and losing     control. Freedom to write whatever comes to mind.

Readings: Upon registration, you’ll receive the titles of a two books to read before attending. It’s the             chance to study the mind of the writer, and to share your favorite parts of the books.

During this holiday, there will be time for lots of writing, reading at your leisure, sharing your work with listeners, resting, napping, and exploring the mountains.

Schedule:

Retreat participants will arrive at the Parker Ranch between 4 and 5:30 pm on Sunday and will eat dinner together at 6:00pm. We will begin the retreat at 7:30 Sunday evening, meeting in the great room to go over the week’s schedule.

On Friday, we will share breakfast and the retreat will end at 11:00 am.
